Hi,
I need to know a DR solution.
What if my BackupExec server crashed how do I restore my files the fastest way?
Any advise please? I'm using BackupExec 2010 R3
I have a Windows 2003 R2 Standard Server where the drives died so I need to do a complete rebuild of OS.
I am running Symantec Backup Exec 12.
What is the process for restoring all the files, system state and SQL databases?
I am unclear on what to name the machine (same as old server?), should I create the same domain name?
Thanks
I just replaced our tape library from a Dell Powervault "older model" to a Dell TL-2000.
I did a 4 GB backup job to get a feel for the speed of the job rate. The job rate came in at about 450Mb/min.
We have had other jobs come in a 1.6GB/min.
"What" and "where" can i look to make sure I am configured with "proper settings" and/or "latest 'req'd stuff'" to maximize my job rate?
We just installed an upgraded tape library. New one is TL-2000
In the oper control panel, I have the TL-2000 set to 'auto-clean' However, the BExec user interface under 'slots' does not show that specific slot number as if it dsnt exist.
I decided to 'toggle off' the setting in the TL-2000 oper control panel where i selected 'dont auto-clean'. However, this did not alter my user interface result in BExec.
How can i get the media server to see all the slots? (Note: in the TL-2000 i do have 23 slots selected as 'Active'. BExec sees 22)
Thanks!
Hello,
my collegue created a backup job in backup exec 2015 (backup C: and D: of a SQL Server) (looks like the SQL Database files a missing, but why?)
One of the RAID Harddisk had Smart Errors and meanwhile the server didn´t start/boot and we need to do a recovery.
1) We noticed, that Backup Exec didn´t saved our running SQL Databases (*.MDF / *.LDF) Files only only the other files in the SQL Folder.
We have a Demo Version of Backup Exec 2015, because we would like to switch from Acronis to Symantec. I can´t ask the collegue at the moment, but I think he didn´t created a separat SQL Database Backup JOB.
2) Am I am right, I can´t do a complete recovery of C: and D: to a different hardware? (like with symantec system recovery)?
thanks and best regards
Peter

Hi there,
I have a Windows 2008 R2 Standard Edition 64bit and I have Backup Exec 2010 R3 installed.
I had successful backups for the last three years.
I tried to create a new backup job three weeks ago and was never successful. I did update the software with the latest update and then after that I NEVER had a succesful job.
I installed from scratch Backup Exec and the agents to the servers but still is unsuccesful.
I backup 6-7 servers - NONE OF THEM IS AN EXCHANGE but I do get the following errors.
I tried what is said on the link V-79-57344-34070 but the problem was not solved.
I have installed the licence keys needed
The Servers are VM and I try to backup to Disk or Tape but still get the same errors.
Please help
all my backup jobs are failing with the following error:
Final error: 0xe0000f19 - An error occurred when the Backup Exec Job Engine Service attempted to communicate with the Backup Exec Device & Media Service. Try restarting all of the Backup Exec services, and then retry this job.
Final error category: Job Errors
i have attached the licensing snapshop just incase the error has to do with licensing
Hi all
I apologize for my english, I hope you can understand my problem.
2 months ago we have upgraded our be2012 installation to be2014. All the jobs running fine for 2 months. After exactly 60 days ALL the jobs start failing with the following message:
The job failed with the following error: The trial period for Backup Exec or for an agent or option has expired. You must enter the serial number to continue.
Looking at the license option I can see a "Deduplication Option" checked; this option is under the "Options avaliable for trial (60 days)" node.
Do we need a license for dedup? Why in BE2012 it was not necessary and all the jobs ran good?
How can we resolve this proble? Actually ALL the backup miserably FAIL.
Thank you very much.
Hi all,
I have an issue since 3 weeks and i can't find any solution.
I have a physical backup server with Windows 2003 R2 / Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP4 and a physical VMware VCenter 5.1 server with 2 x ESX 4.0 + 1 x ESXI 5.1
When i try to browse the VCenter server using Backup Exec i have an error message "Incorrect Function".
If i remove the ESXi 5.1 from Vcenter, everthing is working fine.
If i try to browse the ESXi 5.1 directly from Backup Exec (using ESXi Ip adress) i have the same "Incorrect Function" error message.
I have valid enterprise licenses for Windows, VMware, BackupExec, ... (i'm not using free products)
I've checked credential and access rights and for me everything is OK.

I would like to duplicate some backups to a UNC storage. Backup exec 15 gives an error;
the path appears to be an invalid path. Logged in as domain administrator at the Backup exec server. Has all rights at the share. Can access it from the Backup Acces server.
Even given the share everybody all rights.
Tried both dns and ip adres. No difference. Other shares within the network the same error.
Any help appreciated,
Kind regards, Michael
I have a new install BE 2015 and I am running dedupe NA filer backups for a few weeks. All is good. But I need to offisite a full backup to tape(s) once a month. I have a few full backups to the dedupe storage and taking one backup as an example, its 3TB. When I duplicate to tape its like 300MB. Is this correct? It seems tiny compared to the backup size of 3TB. I am a bit concerned that I am not taking anything to tape,
I was under the impression that when duplicate to tape was conducted (from a dedupe backup) that the data would be re-hydrated as in back to its original size. But then in the back of my mind I am thinking that this could be right.
Not a problem. Just a bit concerned.
I could of course just do a full backup to tape one week in four. But this doesnt seem right somehow.
Can anyone confirm if this is right or not.
Chris.
New to the product and received an email with a tape error. Can anyone assist with what this error is, and any next steps solutions would be greatly appreciated
Event Code: 0x84 - tape alert

Al generar un respaldo completo de un servidor Win server 2003 con SQL 2000, me genera el siguiente error:
V-79-57344-65218 - A failure occurred accessing the SnapShot handle.
Ya quiete la opción de usar snapshot dentro de Advanced Open File, Sin embargo el error continua.
Espero puedan ayudarme.
Gracias.

I have been trying to improve my job rate on backup jobs. In doing so, I have closely watched as they progress through. When the job is in progress, you can see the 'job rate' change dynamically. And I have seen that number go fro 2,500 MB /min to 10,500 MB /min. And crazy as it sounds, I have attached a screenshot where it reported 205,000 MB /min.
1. Why does the 'Live' job rate show a job rate totally different than what is reported once the job completes and moves down to the 'Job history' section?
2. Why do some jobs take longer to kick off? I ask becasue my fastest 'job rate' as seen in attachment is 1,046 MB /min. But that took 7:17 minutes to complete. However, the same job earlier had reported a slower job rate of 954 MB /min but it completed in 6:34 minutes.
Thanks...

We are backing up a MS Hyper-V Server. The amount of Data being backed up is 325GB. We are backing up to a 1TB Removable disk RD1000 drive. If the disk is empty the backup completes successful. After 1 full backup on the disk that will leave around 600GB free we get this error message on the next full backup it tries. Also if we use a blank 500GB disk cartridge we get the same error on the first full backup attempt.
