I have two VMWare ESxi 5.1. Host A is 8 core CPU and Host B with two 4 core CPU. Host A has 1st AD Server and Exchange Server. Host B has 2nd AD Server and installed with Symantec Backup Exec to make backup for AD Server and Exchange Server but will not backup itself.
Can anyone tell me am I miss license?

Our backup server have installed endpoint 11 before and upgraded to endpoint 12
When upgrade to endpoint 12 we need to uninstall the live update.
We also have installed the Backupexec 2012 to this server before.
Now the Liveupdate can not work , although I have repair the Live update.
New the Live update remember the old setting to go the OLD LUA server get update.
How to flash the Live setting old setting and let the live setting go to symantec to download the update.

I want to know that full backup of VM machine strategy. If full backup of one VM once a week at 11:00pm, and incremental backup in every day 11:00pm. Both of them backup copy keep for 1 weeks. Will full backup be deleted and incremental backup cannot restore?

Hi All,
Today morning we have run into problem with connecting over administration console to server. Server console works fine but on my laptop I cannot connect. Message says:
Unable to connect to the requested server. The administration console is an older version and it is incompatible with the server.
Additional notes:
Client: 14.2.1180
Server: 14.2.1180(0)
Anyone has encoutered the similar problem? Running LUA shows that my Symantec software is updated. In attachment you can see a printscreen of the message.

Please conform compatibility of Symantec backup exec 2014, Ver 14.1 Rev. 1786 with vSphere 5.5 and 6.0 version that we are planning to upgrade from current 5.1, share the update ASAP.
I am just curious about this. I am running backup exec 12 on a 2003 server. We had some issues with are old lto4 backup using a quantum superloader 3. We have purchased the same superloader 3 but with a lto 6 drive in it. At first the nightly backups were great and only taking about 3 hours to back up about 80 gb across all servers. The other night the backup ran but took about 12 hours to complete. Last nights backup was 6 1/2 hours, this spans over 13 servers and only grabs data that has been modified that day. I noticed though there was a time lapse of 3 1/2 hours between 2 of the servers and their jobs. The one that took 12 hours to complete had multiple spans of inactive time between servers.
This is nothing for me to be to concerned with since the backups are running with in a time frame that nothing is being changed on the network. I am curious to see if anyone has ever seen anything like this before though.

So I have inherited a BE environment with very little BE knowledge, and I have a BE 2014 server with low disk alerts for it's storage pool. There's a huge amount of stuff in there, and I have no idea what to clear out and how to clear it.

I am running backup exec 14.1 on a 2008r2 server. it is taking backups of mainly vmware servers being moniotored on vcenter server 6 or 5.1. i noticed every so often that when editing the backup it tells me that most of the VM in the backups cannot be found and if i want to remove them from the job. if i click no and continue to click on edit and to observe what VM is having problems. when looking into the vcenter folders , backup exec finds them within the nested folders and adds them to the job after i click on ok to save the changes, all seems fine until about 24 hours later the problem occurs again and i need to re-add the vm back into the specific backup job.
i couldnt fix this issue that i am having and was wondering if other people are having this issue when backing up VM in vcenter server 5.1 or 6.0 and if there is a solution?

I have check from Backup Exec 2015 Software Compatibility List. I don't see Solaris as 1 in the list of supported OS.
Is it because Solaris is no longer supported by BE version 2015?
If it's really not supported, i think this is a bad idea..

Installiert ist Backup Exec 14.1 Rev. 1786 (64 Bit) auf einem Windows 2012 R2 Server. Gesichert werden nur Daten die auf diesem Server gespeichert sind.
Es erfolgt an den Tagen Montag bis Freitag eine Gesamtsicherung auf via USB angeschlossene Festplatten.
Beim anstecken der Festplatten erhalten diese entweder den Laufwerksbuchstaben H:. G:, oder was sonst als nächstes Frei ist.
Problem:
Backup Exec sucht vor jedem Backup scheinbar nach neuen Ressourcen und sichert diese ohne Rückmeldung einfach mit. Ich habe auch bisher keine Einstellung gefunden, die explizit sagt: "Automatische Suche nach Backup-Ressourcen deaktivieren" oder ähnliches.
Frage:
Wie kann ich der Software nun begreiflich machen, dass diese wirklich nur C:, D:, Systemstatus und EFI-Systempartion sichert?

ich habe anscheinend ein Verständnisproblem. Bei unserem Backup Exec 2014 werden Backup Sätze die abgelaufen sind zwar noch angezeigt, man kann auch an der Struktur erkennen welche Ordner oder Server gesichert wurden, aber es sind anscheinend keinerlei Daten mehr vorhanden auf die man zugreifen kann. Selbst wenn ich ein abgelaufenes Band neu katalogisieren möchte, kann auf keinerlei Daten mehr zugegriffen werden. Wenn die Backup Sätze noch vorliegen, und diese noch nicht überschrieben worden sind, sollte man diese doch noch wiederherstellen können oder nicht?

I have windows 2003 server with Backup exec 11d installed. Now we have purchased a new Dell R630 Server, installed Windows 2008r2.
Since 11d is not compatable with windows 2008 r2 OS, a new version need to install.
Can the same License keys can be used for new versions?
What is the validity or time frame for a License?
Can the same License keys can be upgrade to new version?

how many version can downgrade for Backup exec License? if i purchase BE 15 now, can i downgrade to version 12?
When downloading the sp4 patch for 2010 R3, the result is an ISO with SP4 embedded. I assume I run the program and then do a repair to install the service pack? Only other option appears to be "add options". Live update isnt working so that is not an option.
The preinstall also says there are problems with WMI, so SQL express might not upgrade or something. Anyway to further verify this or what exactly indicates there is something wrong with wmi

I started a Very Large Tape Backup Job Last Week (~19 TB). At the time I slected to Backup followed by a Backup Verification. The Backup portion completed a few hours ago. I know that it is better to complete the verification, but I need to pull the tapes this afternoon.
How do I properly Stop the Backup Verification? The Options that I see when I right click on the Job are Cancel and Hold. If I select Cancel will the Backed-Up Data be Preserved (Only the Verify Step lost.)?
Also, where do I look to see exactly which Tapes were used so that I know which Tapes to remove? The Dell TL2000 has more Tapes than needed for this Backup Job.

Hi one of my client have Backup Exec Not for resale Licenses, Do we need to purchase maintenance license?
Im running BE 2012 on a Windows Server running 2008 R2. Recently had an issue with one of our tape drives that went offline. Ended up having to call Dell tech support, and during the troubleshooting they had to change the control path on one of our tape drives, in order to get the tape moved from out of the I/O slot. After that change was made I began to get "Library Expansion Option Violation" notification errors every hour. We did get the control path set back to the first drive. Is there a way to get the alert rest so that it no longer is recognizing second drive or so the alerts are no longer triggered?
I am trying to get client-side deduplication working on Backup Exec 15 and a datadomain unit. I have the OST installed on the media server and client server. I enabled the job to use the client side deduplication - however the deduplication ratio's show blank, no warnings on the job and the server can communicate with the datadomain appliance. Do I need any additional licenses on our Backup Exec server (Copy Server Config, Managed Server, Enterprise Server or Storage Provisioning option?) I have the vray edition and deduplication option is enabled.
