BackupExec Job Log for ESX

Can you please explain, why are you doing different backup sets for each Virtual Machine in the Job Log ?
There is no summary section, how many Gb was processed by this one backup job.
I.e. if I need to know, how many Gb was in the backup, I need to open each Set entry, open each 'Backup Set Summary' and count processed bytes.

Doing incremental backups on a NAS device.

I have created a Backup job for a Synology NAS device. The full backup runs with no issues, but when it is time for an incremental backup it just preforms a full backup again.
I am using Backup exec 2014 currently. Just curious as to what I may have missed to get this working correctly.

BE2014 Optimized Duplication - 'Loading Media - Duplicate' for hours

I have BE2014 on the latest version, and my architecture is as follows:
-Production Environment, with CASO, Duplication Add-on, and a local dedupe store on this windows 2012 R2 server. (no extra devices connected)
-DR environment, with a BE managed server out there, and Deduplication Add-on (no extra devices involved out there either). I have a dedupe store shared out on this managed server (shared with the CASO server in Production)
-At present, there is a 1GB LAN connection between the two servers/sites.
I have my backup jobs defined on the CASO server in production, and the data is being saved to the dedupe store in Production just fine.
I have a stage added to duplicate the data over to the shared store over in DR, but the jobs are taking forever (too long for the backup window at present).
Every time i check in on it, it's almost constantly stuck on 'Loading Media - Duplicate'
Anyone got any ideas?

Deduplication & Optimized duplication - multiple jobs for one server?

I have a number of servers that i want to back up with BE2014, using the deduplication add-on. I will also be adding a stage to duplicate certain backups to an offsite, shared dedupe store.
I have a query about using multiple jobs for the same backup server.
Say i create job A,(consisting of Full and Incrementals), and this job backs up one server to the primary dedupe store, and this will be duplicated to another dedupe store offsite
Then, i go along and create job B, with different retention settings (also backing up the same server, to the same dedupe store), and this is also duplicated to an offsite dedupe store.
Will job B go off and create a completely new batch of files (eg full backups) on the primary dedupe store, or will everything be completely deduped and no duplicate of files created (, because it can 'see' all of the full backups that were previously created via Job A?
If new backups will be created, will the same thing happen in the offsite dedupe store, and the duplicate jobs will also create new backups in the offsite store?
Basically, i will be creating one job for daily/weekly, and the weekly will be duplicated offsite. I will be creating a seperate montly job, with suitable retention, and this will have a duplicate to send it offsite. I will also be creating seperate quarterly and annual jobs with suitable retention for them also.
Is this a good approach, and will this all work together and deduplicate well?

BE2014 Deduplication - how many concurrent jobs do you run, what spec is your backup server?

I have a couple of quick questions about the dedupe store concurrent jobs setting (for a standard dedupe store running on the media server, with no external devices and no OSTs).
What do people normally leave the setting at? It's looking like i'm going to be running quite a few jobs at once, but i'm hesitant to perform more than 3 jobs at once as it might slow all the jobs down to much
I have BE running as a VM, with 2 x dual core processors, with 32GB of RAM. If i double this to 8 cores in total, will it help me run more concurrent jobs efficiently?

BE 14.1 Job Estatus Queued

im using BE 14.1 SP2 and last hotfix applied, with a server 2012R2, and Local Disk storage. Suddenly Job holds in queued and stay forever until manually cancel. Storage is online and active.
The Software was working fine and made around 12 good backup. I already delete all jobs and create again, delete servers, and rebuild the database.
The only thing i cant do it is erase and create again the storage, Catastrophic failure showed when i try.

SQL DB Restore Problem

Hi, one of our clients currently has an error when trying to restore an SQL 2000 Database.
Here are the facts:
- The original Windows Server 2003, where the instance was active, is long gone and there is no system backup (there are databases on a tape from 2006, though).
- SQL Server 2000 with SP3 was installed to another Windows Server 2003 system.
- When performing the redirected restore the following error occurs after approx. 25 minutes:
0xE0000346 - The selected database appears to have been backed up from a newer version of SQL Server. Backups made from newer versions of SQL Server cannot be restored to older versions of SQL Server.

Of course, nothing is restored. So according to the error, there is a mismatch between the SQL Server versions. As per this article, the exact build number must match: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH60821.html

There is a screenshot of the configuration of the database, which shows SQL version 8.00.760 (SP3) from January, 2006. The backup is from June, 2006.
So here is my question: Is there any way to find out which SQL build number is expected on the target machine, without performing the actual restore? Microsoft released more than 50 hotfixes / patches which change the SQL Server build number between SP3 (August 27, 2003) and June, 2006 and it would cause a devastating amount of effort to try every single patch level...

How do I move the SQL database for Backup Exec to another drive?

I've been searching the forums for how to do this and did not come up with much. My drive that hosts the Backup Exec SQL database is filling up my OS drive and I want to move it off of that drive onto a dedicated array for Backup Exec. How do I accomplish this? Can someone point me in the correct kb (if one exists) or provide me with steps?
Current setup:
- OS: Server 2008 R2
- Backup Exec 2012
- SQL Express 2005 (installed by Backup Exec)

Issues Backing up server in the same network but different Domain on BE 2014

Hello, I'm having issues backing up another server in our network that is part of a different domain. I added the SBS 2011 server to BE2014 and installed the agents and established trust.
The problem is when I create a job I only see a small list of shared folders. It does not list the C or D drives, system state or Utility partion that you would normally see when creating a new job. Any ideas?
I tried backing up one of these shared folders and It completes but gives an exception, "Could not completely pretect remote computers because the BE remote agent was not installed". I've installed the agent 3 times and it shows it installs succssfully each time.

Re-install of BE 11D to move off some final files and can't access any target servers

I had to uinstall and reinstall BE 11d from this 2003 server I have. I'm mostly all move to 2012 (it's not a great product but it is what it is)
Here's the problem. I had to create a new login account and the darning thing does not work on any of my other servers. This 2003 box used to be a domain controller and over the weekend I demoted it, renamed and removed and added it back to the domain. The old name and IP I moved to a 2008 box as a new domain controller.
I'm at a loss. The pw, domain credentials are right . (period, they're right/confirmed multiple times) But I get a 'query failed", a failed to access domain-name, etc all looking like it's credentials. I can even traverse to the one notes server via command line (as my logged in user/same as in BE)
At this point I could just as easily smoke the whole server except there is some last data that I'd rather not get off by robocopy but that's apparently my next step.
thoughts for further trouble shooting? Do I have to reinstall the agent on the remote servers since the server name is different?

Compatibility of BE 2015

I am confusing on agent compatibility. Since some agent is using BE 2012 sp3 only.
From Administrative guide, I found
- Backup Exec 15 can communicate with Backup Exec 2010 R3 Remote Agent for Windows Systems and later.
But from software compatibility list,
- agent versions that can be temporarily used with Backup Exec 15, BE 2012 needed sp4.
Then BE 2012 sp3 is support or not ??
