While I want to add server to BE server, I got below error.
"Error connecting to the remote computer. Ensure that the computer is available, has WMI enabled, and is not blocked by a firewall.1603"

We have issue with SQL backup where the backup hungs in the ququed forever, Can someone guide me to troubleshoot this ? As i also have another SQL as same as this server but the SQL backups on those servers are running fine.

In BE2010, the log in cancelled job will show the account who open the backup exec management console, but in BE15, all cancelled job only shows cancelled by the functional ID we used to setup job and connect the backup agent. Would you please advise how to change it?

I'm trying to do a restore and it just won't let me, keeps giving me the error after about 10 secs everytime;
I can backup absolutely fine but it just won't restore because some credential issues, I'm running backup exec 2012 on Windows Server 2008 R2, service pack for is installed and 2 hotfix's 215906 & 217347. Also there are no avaliable updates to install at all and I'm restoring from Tapes and the tape is in :-P.
Any help would be great thank you, I can't seem to find an answer.

Is there a way to extract a file from backup sets permanently? I don't want to be able to recover the file ever but can't lose the older backups.
Estimates have no problem to support virtual machines, I was updated in VCENTER, besides the snapshot is passed to each virtual machine and out correctly, the backup exec server SP1 to SP2 update. It has reviewed all the properties vmware administrator. and made off backup error as shown in the picture.

What's the difference of below two exclusion:
Seems both are only apply to Diff (please refer to attached picture)

Hi, our cusotmer's BE server is BE 2014 SP2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Std. I have a question regarding backup set retention:
For exisitng backup set, is there a way to change its retention? For example, I did a backup of a client with retention set to 1 week. Later can I change this backup's retention to 1 month? If yes, how to do that?

Hi, our customer's BE server is Backup Exec 2014 SP2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Std. All clients are Windows clients (Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1).
The customer wants to do push installation of agent from BE server to all the clients. However, we tested and found some of the clients are able to be pushed install and some failed the push installation. Customer told us their clients are all in the same network (same subnet).
May I know what are the requirements for push installtion of Windows agent to the clients? And if the push installaton failed on the client, how should we troubleshoot?

i am getting following error in every full backup job on friday (scheduled full backup on friday). backup starts and backup job will contnue for 2-3 hour but after this time backup job will stuck and tape will come out from media.
e0008821 - Job was recovered as a result of Backup Exec RPC service starting. No user action is required. For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-34849

Hello,
since we've installed Backup Exec 2014 the size of the Data Folder grows continously. In the Data folder I've found a log of folders(nearly 35.000) named like VM's with a timestamp. The most folders have only a few KB, but the folders from the Exchange Server have more than 300 MB.
Does anybody know where they come from and whether this folder can be deleted?

It would be nice for Symantec Backup Exec 2015 to support the Buffalo LinkStation 220 Storage for GRT backup and restore.

I thought I would try posting on here - as Symantec Enterprise support are really poor. (in my long experience with BE 11d, 12, 12.5, 2010, 2010 R3, 2012, 2014)
Brand new Dell server hardware, running Server 2012 R2 Standard, BE 15 (V-Ray) installed on RAID 1 array (new install - not upgrade), 2 x raid 0 arrays set up (1 x 3.2Tb, 1 x 13.2 Tb) configured as storage disks in BE 15. (all disks 600Gb 15K SAS). Using FC HP 1/8 G2 Autoloader LTO-6, with QLogic 8Gb FC card on x8 PCI-E (QLE2562) (both on Symantec HCL)
B2D works as expected - (haven't tried backing up VMs (V-Ray functionality) yet - physical servers only - all with Windows agents deployed. All licensing for Applications and Databases and V-Ray etc. added to the BE server prior to agent deployment.
As per usual with a BE release - GRT is still awful. 500Gb Exchange GRT-enabled backup duplicate to tape from one of the RAID-0 arrays got stuck - 9 hours later, have restarted the target server and the had to first restart the services (forcefully) Followed Symantec guidelines per their TECH articles on GRT.
Didn't experience GRT duplicate issues with exactly the same servers with BE 2014 SP2 - had a whole host of Exchange 2013 restore issues that Symantec Enterprise support could do nothing to help with.
I suspect BE version 15 is even more buggy than BE 2014 before it.
Will be logging a case with Symantec Enterprise support on Monday. I thought I would see if there is any feedback on here.
Hi, will BE 2015 restore workflows at a granular/individual level? That is to say, if I need to restore a workflow, can I select it individually for restore, or would I need to restore an entire site?
Also, if I use BE to do a SharePoint farm restore, will it restore all workflow engine components?

I have many servers setup on BE2014 and they are working fine, but any new serers (especially physical servers) when trying to establish trust are giving me the following error:
Calling Method 'SetServerTrust'
BEMSDK Method 'MEdiaServerAdvertisementUpdate'
BEMSDK Failure Code: E000FE28
I can ping the remote server and even verified the port. I even tried to install the server via IP Address with no luck.
Has anyone run into this or does anyone have any suggestions?

Getting error when trying to add new Netware server to backup list. NW 6.5 SP8/patched. 8gb RAM
"An error was encountered while attempting to browse the contents of <servername>. A memory allocation request failed. The computer may be runnig low on virtual memory."
We backup another similar server just fine.
