Hi,
I have successfully backup my Exchange 2010 database using Back Exec 2012 SP3. However, when I try to perform a restore, I encountered errors.
First I tried to restore to a pst file to the same server where Backup Exec is installed, so I am sure Back Exec Agent for Windows is installed. I have also installed Microsoft Office 2010 (32-bit version) on the machine as per instruction but the error I received was "The job failed with the following error: To redirect Exchange mailboxes to PST files, Outlook 2003 or later and the Backup Exec Agent for Windows must be installed on the server to which you are redirecting the restore. Outlook 2010 requires the default 32-bit installation.".
I also tried to restore to another mailbox in the same database but I encounter the error "The job failed with the following error: To support individual mailbox message and folder restores from Information Store backups, you must download and install the Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects package version 06.05.7888 or later on the Exchange 2007 server. This package can be found on the Microsoft web site.". This is strange as I am running Exchange 2010 SP3. There has never been an Exchange 2007 in my environment. Having said that, I have upgraded our Exchange servers from Exchange 2003 directly to Exchange 2010 SP3. After successfully migrating the mailboxes, I uninstall all the Exchange 2003 servers from Add/Remove Programs. There is no trace of Exchange 2003 left in our environment.
I have googled for answers for issues I encountered but none I can find that is the same situation as mine. Any help on this greatly appreciated as I need to make sure the restore works in case of the disaster that may strike. Thanks!
